Students will learn about the process of slip casting, use some pre-made casting molds, and then make molds of their own! We will learn about making sprig molds, slip casting molds out of plaster, and slump/hump molds out of bisqued clay. Each student will have at least three molds that they can keep at the end of the class session. We will also use these molds to create finished pieces! All firings and glazes are included in the price of the class along with the materials necessary to create molds and cast with slip. Students are required to bring their own basic pottery tool kit. After you are registered for class, you can purchase a tool kit through our website, or you are welcome to purchase your own tool kit elsewhere. Class meets once per week for 8 weeks.
